what's on your needles?

Spring has sprung--maybe-- one should only hope--
With the peeking signs of warm weather we are all concentrating in knitting/crocheting with soft light weight cottons and transitional wools. I noticed that customers are moving in that direction.
Most of the ladies who took the top down sweater class chose to knit with some blend of cotton.
Now that I finished Natalie's and my daughter's sweaters I am knitting the cropped cardi from Vogue of last spring with Tahki's Sky. Let me tell you that is one nice cotton to knit with!
The stitch definition is remarkable and the knitting really goes quick, I'm almost done with the back. I started Tuesday.
It has been rather quite this past week, so I knit, knit, knit. Wont let perfectly good hours go to waste!
Nickie also has been knitting a red top in Cascades Cotton Rich and because she knit much too loose she had to go to a size 3 needle. And she is up to the arm hole shaping.
We do keep busy. :)

Finally!

I finally finished! It only took what 3 months to finish. But I do have to confess, I took time out in between. I also finished the top down sweater, a purse and a shawl not to mention give classes, so yea it took three months. It is really gorgeous on Nickie.
It is displayed on the little couch till Saturday the 21st then it goes home with Natalie.

Alpaca Silk DK from Debbie Bliss is truly a soft drapey yarn. We have little left and its in one of the train of shame baskets. I am giving it a couple more weeks, then ladies it will go home with me!

Top down designers update

Remember Karen from a previous post?
Karen is having so much fun creating top down sweaters that she is now up to her 3rd one.
The other designers are moving along very nicely.
We have Meri who has completed one of her long sleeves,
Marion is just about to separate for the sleeves, Jen I am positive is about the same place,
and I think everyone else is nearing to separate for the sleeves.
I love to see the excitement of new designers.
Very Very proud of all of you!

First sweater!!

How thrilling when you finish your first sweater.
Here is Dawn with her finished masterpiece. We are all very proud of her accomplishment. First time ever to knit a sweater and she used small needles with DB Alpaca Silk DK.
Small yarn, Small needles quite a feat for a new knitter!
Way to go Dawn!!!!

Look at Karen! She has completed her first designed top down sweater, how wonderful it looks.
It only took Karen a week to 10 days to finish. She enjoyed it so much that she is starting on another sweater. We have unleashed a great new designer here at nonnas. :o)

The last snow storm?

Here we are thinking spring knitting/crocheting and we get another blast of snow. Well we will still knit/crochet for spring anyway, it will come soon, Right? I hope. You all know that when the weather is bad we sister don't come out. School closing and hilly dryway make it difficult for us to open shop. I still get a lot of knitting done!

Here is a pix of the entralac shopping tote. Its a Josey pattern thats developing very nicely.

We have a couple of students interested for a weekday class. There is room for one more. Remember it will be on a week day!
